Broome was literally devoured by the huge jaws of this severe storm. So exciting to watch it approach.

Heading North of the Rocks on Cable Beach is a way of life on a Sunday afternoon here in Broome.  What better way to top it off than have a sunset storm as well.

'Kimberley Colours'

The combination of huge 10 metre tides and the red pindan cliffs of Roebuck Bay mix to create a colour combination that can only be found here.  Such vibrancy in nature.

'Dash for Life'
It was like a scene out of a war movie. 60 baby turtles exploding out of their nest, commencing the 300m dash across the battlefield of dive bombing seagulls, hawks and crabs in their bunkers. After 20 intense minutes the enemy were held at bay by 3 kids and we are happy to report no casualties. May they live on to fight many more battles.

'Blue Ningaloo'
Another of my favourite places. Ningaloo Reef sure does impress. No wonder so many people do the road trip up the West Coast to Broome where you can swim in water like this on the way. Awesome!!

'Where Three Colours Collide'
Silty mudflats, blue sky and red cliffs all combine together on a big tide to create possibly the most amazing colours to be seen around Broome. There are a few places locally where it meets in colour perfection. I think this is one of them.

'Skies Light Up'
Christmas Eve and a lightning strike hitting behind us illuminates the scene all around. An amazing storm system with such a variety of cloud structures and lightning. It was hard to know where to point the camera. Spoilt for choice. Sadly only 0.2mm for Broome fell in the rain gauge.

'70 Seconds of Power'

One exposure of 70 seconds and all these Lightning bolts reigned down over Roebuck Bay.  Wet season storms in Broome are something to witness.

BOOM.  One of those moments where the night sky turns daylight, you let out a shriek of excitement.  Cable Beach in one of the storms of the wet season.  Freezing a moment in time.

'Broome Blues'
Winter king tides with the cool 28 degree maximums. Considering it's still one of the warmest places in Australia, our Winter Broome blues are nothing to get down about.

Deeply rooted in the mud of Roebuck Bay these three Mangroves are made for photographing.  The wild colours of Crab Creek.

'Whale and Calf'
Rainbow colours reflecting off the fine spray of a young Humpback's exhaled breath. It's so amazing to see the whales interacting together every June to September.  The Broome coast is a buzz of excitement with whale watchers enjoying the spectacle.

'Solo Mangrove'

Sitting in the colourful waters of Roebuck Bay this mangrove is a turtle cafe on the high tides. It certainly would have a great view for the turtles as it does from above looking down.

Almost dissecting the Beach and the Bay, Gantheaume Point in Broome would have to be one of the most beautifully aligned and significant headlands in the West Kimberley. With up to 10 metre tides changing every 6 hours no wonder it has been shaped into the spectacular rocky outcrop it is today.

'Mudcrabbing Madness'
Inaccessible and up to 2 metres deep these intricate tidal channels would have to be the home of some good sized Broome Mudcrabs. Seen here from 120m above it would be madness to step foot in that deep mud.

The smokey sunset this evening in Broome transferred a little bit of its golden energy onto these rocks. Such vibrant colour seconds before sunset.

'River Runs Red'
Torrential rain passes over the coast of Broome and sends beaches into rivers running red. The turquoise waters of Cable Beach adds another colour during the west season downpours.

'Baitball Bingo'
Keep it neat, locked in place, if you fall out of line.... your numbers up. Huge baitball of fish cornered against the coastline of Broome. Trevally, Queenfish, Mackeral all coming in for a feed then the king of the food chain clears the area.

Stormy long exposure sunset at the end of a 3 day heat wave for Broome. Standing as big rain drops fell from the sky the cold drops were the ultimate relief.
